Modules

A module is a reusable piece of board: a layout you build once (frames, labels, shapes, wires, media slots) and stamp onto any board, then fill with that project’s media. Where a template is a snapshot you insert as-is, a module is a fixture with holes in it: the layout is fixed, the media changes per use.

Select the elements you want to reuse and right-click ▸ Create Module from selection… (available on both the element menu and the image/video/card menu; it only needs a selection). The dialog takes a name, a category, and an icon. Modules save as .mrmic files with a preview image, and they record only the layout plus links, never copies of your media.

Videos and images inside the selection become slots: positions that remember where media belongs. You can also place Temp Image and Temp Video placeholders while designing, as empty slots to fill later.

  • Insert from the module library (alongside your templates), or type the module’s name into quick search (Ctrl + Space): once created, every module is one palette entry away, with no digging through menus. Either way, pick the module and click to place it. A placement ghost of the whole footprint follows the cursor, sticky notes, drawings, and shapes included.
  • Double-click a slot to fill it, from disk or from something already on the canvas. Slots keep their positions, so filling never shifts the layout.
  • From the library you can rename, recategorize, or re-icon a module at any time.

Use it when: every episode review needs the same wall: three plates across the top, a reference row, a notes column, and a sign-off sticky. Build it once as a module, stamp it per episode, and fill the slots with that episode’s shots.
