File formats

.mp4 .mov .m4v .mkv .webm .avi .wmv .mpg .mpeg .mts .m2ts .m2t .ts .mxf

Codecs that aren’t natively playable are converted for playback automatically, with a brief “Converting for playback” notice, and still scrub frame-accurately.

.png .jpg .jpeg .jfif .gif .bmp .webp .tif .tiff .tga .svg .svgz .ico

A few niche formats (.pbm, .ppm, .xpm, and similar) also open, best-effort.

HDR formats: .exr and .hdr are fully decoded on the Immersion Canvas, including image-sequence import. The main viewer lists them but may not preview them. .dpx files are listed but can’t be displayed.

.pdf .txt .rtf .csv preview inside the app. Office and OpenDocument (.doc .docx .xls .xlsx .ppt .pptx .odt .ods .odp) open in your system’s default application.

  • Boards: .rmic (and .prmic exported clusters)
  • Notes / takes: JSON sidecars in a ReelMarkr_data folder next to your footage
  • Video: MP4 (takes, ranges, shots, all-takes combined, with audio), GIF
  • Stills: PNG screenshots
  • Vector: SVG (canvas shapes and drawings, via Save selected as SVG)

Rendering and conversion run through a user-supplied ffmpeg. ReelMarkr ships no codec binaries. See Installing ffmpeg.
