Browsing your media
Open media
Section titled “Open media”- File ▸ Open Directory loads a whole folder.
- File ▸ Open File opens a single clip.
- Double-clicking a supported media file in Explorer opens it in ReelMarkr. You can also pass files on launch.
Thumbnail or list view
Section titled “Thumbnail or list view”Toggle View ▸ Toggle Views ▸ Thumbnail/List:
- Thumbnail grid: a contact-sheet of the folder, loading as you scroll. Thumbnails grow to fill the panel’s width, so widening the panel gets bigger images, not bigger margins.
- List: a sortable table (name, date, size, type, duration, and more). Click a column header to sort. The Rating column takes input directly: click or drag across the stars to rate a file in the list.
Click an item to open it in the viewer. The left panel keeps the width you drag it to, across maximize and restore.
Use it when: triaging a folder of renders, rating as you go.
Navigate
Section titled “Navigate”- A directory dropdown shows where you are. Jump up to the parent folder any time.
- Recent folders are remembered. Clear them with Settings ▸ Clear Directory History.
Search
Section titled “Search”Type in the search box to find media across your indexed folders, not just the current one.
Favorites
Section titled “Favorites”Mark files as favorites. They’re stored per person in a
ReelMarkr_data/Favorites file next to the media. A common favorites view
surfaces files several people on a shared drive have favorited.
File versions
Section titled “File versions”When a folder holds several versions of the same shot (named with version suffixes), ReelMarkr groups them, and lets you switch between versions and jump to the latest.
