Getting around the canvas

The Immersion Canvas is an infinite, pannable board. Everything you place on it (clips, stills, notes, generated images) lives in one space you move around freely.

  • Zoom: scroll the mouse wheel (or Ctrl + wheel); zoom anchors to the cursor. On a trackpad, pinch to zoom. Ctrl + = / Ctrl + - step the zoom and Ctrl + 0 resets to 100 %. The current zoom level shows in the top bar.
  • Pan: hold the middle mouse button and drag, or hold Space and drag with the left button. (Holding Alt over the canvas instead opens the eyedropper / color loupe.)
  • Fit / frame: click Fit in the top bar or press F. With a single video selected, F toggles between fit and 100 %; otherwise it frames the selection, or the whole board when nothing is selected. F5 always frames all content.

Park a view you keep returning to. Ctrl + 1 … Ctrl + 9 saves the current pan/zoom into a numbered slot, and 1 … 9 snaps back to it, handy for jumping between regions of a big board.

  • Click an item to select it.
  • Drag across an empty area to rubber-band (marquee) select.
  • Hold Ctrl or Shift to add items to the selection.
  • Ctrl + A selects everything.
  • Ctrl + D duplicates the selection beside the original.
  • Delete or Backspace removes the selected items from the board (your source files on disk are never touched).
  • Search (Tab) opens the on-can
